Hedvig speaks with Nikki Wood, a civil servant, about her journey with hearing loss, British Sign Language (BSL), dabbling in Polish and Spanish, and also some of the challenges and excuses that she’s battling in trying to learn languages.

Nikki works as a civil servant and is originally from Lancashire but moved to London 10 years ago. She knows very small amounts of a few languages, but hasn’t actually learnt one fully. She is hard of hearing and has completed level 1 of BSL (British Sign Language).
